Well in a virtual sense ;D

I have finally made the step of making my company official here in Norway and with that registred a domain name IngerMaaike.no where my blog will be integrated into a complete site with all my sited combined and also a shop in my own name. I will still be selling on etsy but hope a local shop will entice more local buyers.

I will start up with workshops too in january which then too can be published on my site. So from now on if you wish to see what I am up to go here to my new blog

Being social is not my strong point, I forget birthdays and christmas is not the highlight of my year..

Keeping in touch is also not something that comes naturally so when I receive a surprise from across the ocean from a friend I have only ever met online who does like christmas and does remember all kinds of things I so readily forget...well my day is made

Frances is a photographer beyond compare and I am so chuffed she considers me a friend despite all my many short comings. And she made the coolest spider candlestick ever which she sent to me. Just because..

How much emptier our lives would have been without the net, it gives us friends we would never have met and a wonderful way of keeping in contact instantaneously as well.

I dyed some wool the other day and then made felted mitts, while felting them to colours kinda asked to be made into a hat. So yesterday evening suddenly I had to go make it.

I used a very big mixing bowl to start off the shape, and once it was kind of felted moved on to a cooking pot which happened to have just the right dimensions. Rolling, heating and more rolling, rubbing and of course I used my sander to do the final felting to give it shape and solidity. It consists of a layer of deep red merino then a layer of black finn wool and on the outside a layer of the variegated green merino. All in all a solid yet light hat which is warm, water and wind proof. The big question of course is will I wear it...

It has an inner short jacket which zips into the main coat.

I have given it a kangaroo pouch in stead of 2 seperate pockets as theat makes keeping my hands warm much easier.

I wear dresses and skirts mostly as they are more comfortable, and the jeans I can buy are never quite it or just too darned expensive. So I copied my very fave ones , now I have jeans that are comfy, look nice and did not cost me an arm and a leg..

I have admired a Lithuanian felter for a long time, she make the most incredible flower paintings of wool. I have wished to go study with her. And yesterday I saw she had published a tutorial, so right away I bought it of course

I made a shawl using her flower painting tutorial, she usually makes her paintings on bags, wall hangings, pillows and eyeglasses. I thought it would look awesome on a scarf too. And this tutorial is just superb. I can not draw if my life depended on it but following her step by step pictures and description managed to make poppies that actually look like poppies. I need loads more practive of course but for a first try I am mightily pleased

My sewing thread arrived so I set to work right away, even if my zipper is still one the way...

I have it all in place now, just the zipper and it will be done. I tried a new trick as I wanted embroidery on the hood and sleeves. Things like that always go wrong with me. Either it comes out looking like a weird splodge or my sewing machine tries to eat my fabric. But this time I wedged my fabric inbetween paper and drew my pattern of embroidery on it before hand. And it actually worked. Most pleasing!

This time of year sometimes the moon is so bright you can red a book by it in the dead of night. Not that I habitually sit outside in the frost at night...but I could do so without needing an extra light if I so desired

I have been ogling this wool for over a year now and last week decided to buy it finally. There is a certain coat I have had in my head for quite a long time and this fabric is perfect for it It is however a deep purple and not this odd cherise the camera made of it...

It will have a bodywarmer inside of the same fabric which can be zipped out, which will sport sleeves in the stripy yersey.

My wool is all cut, now just for my zipper to arrive and my purple serger thread

I have wanted to make these for a long time already and when I bought these rubber boots I figured they would be a perfect mold to felt around.

They will have waterproof rubber soles so I could even use them outside if need be

I can slip in to them just like that but will add laces just for fun anyway.
