A dress from handwoven wool

I was scouring the net in search of tightly woven wool to make a circular dress. In my wanderings I found this utterly amazing handwoven wool, not suited for the type of dress I had in mind at all. But a plan is there to be changed so I went ahead and ordered it from this amazing artisan.

Shortly after it arrived all the way from the USA and boy it was all that it had promised to be and then some!

I set to work right away, and copied a fave shirt with a lovely neckline onto paper, this would be the bodice. I tried to get as much from the fabric as possible in the way of the skirt part by cutting it out as circular as possible.

The ties at the front are laced through tiny daisy flowers and the hemline is left raw with an embroudered edge so it can still move. All in all I am greatly satisfied with the result!

I have yet to find the right top to go under it but the chequered one will have to do for now :-)

Hi Inger,

What a wonderfull dress! I know that you where looking for a piece of wool to create a full circle dress, like the dress I made and called Ceridwen. And I think your result is very beautifull! I love the wool you used and you look great in this dress! My compliments ;-)
