I am moving

Well in a virtual sense ;D

I have finally made the step of making my company official here in Norway and with that registred a domain name IngerMaaike.no where my blog will be integrated into a complete site with all my sited combined and also a shop in my own name. I will still be selling on etsy but hope a local shop will entice more local buyers.

I will start up with workshops too in january which then too can be published on my site. So from now on if you wish to see what I am up to go here to my new blog

This must be the coolest gift ever..

My secret dino was Kris from Istanbul, she very clearly envisioned the tutu I am always wearing when dancing in our Dino room..

Worldwide friends

Being social is not my strong point, I forget birthdays and christmas is not the highlight of my year..

Keeping in touch is also not something that comes naturally so when I receive a surprise from across the ocean from a friend I have only ever met online who does like christmas and does remember all kinds of things I so readily forget...well my day is made :-D

Frances is a photographer beyond compare and I am so chuffed she considers me a friend despite all my many short comings. And she made the coolest spider candlestick ever which she sent to me. Just because..

How much emptier our lives would have been without the net, it gives us friends we would never have met and a wonderful way of keeping in contact instantaneously as well.

Building for the future

Architecture for humanity is an organistion which is building a more sustainable future using the power of design.Through a global network of building
professionals, Architecture for Humanity brings design, construction and
development services to communities in need.

As the Europeanstreetteam on Etsy we support this organisation through our charity shop and now also through an auction of a beautiful blanket made by many of the teams members. You can bid on the blanket and all the proceeds will go to Archtecture for humanity.

The EST blog is hosting the auction and I would love to see the blanket going away for a very large sum of money..

Felted hat

I dyed some wool the other day and then made felted mitts, while felting them to colours kinda asked to be made into a hat. So yesterday evening suddenly I had to go make it.

I used a very big mixing bowl to start off the shape, and once it was kind of felted moved on to a cooking pot which happened to have just the right dimensions. Rolling, heating and more rolling, rubbing and of course I used my sander to do the final felting to give it shape and solidity. It consists of a layer of deep red merino then a layer of black finn wool and on the outside a layer of the variegated green merino. All in all a solid yet light hat which is warm, water and wind proof. The big question of course is will I wear it...

Experiment mitts

The poppy flower tutorial by Renate can of course also be used on mitts, these are a bit of an experiment and the next pair will be for the shop as I now know how to get the opening bit right.
Pair number two, this time I folded the edges in stead of cutting them. That is a big improvement on the final fit.

Purple green winter coat

After a long wait finally my zipper arrived so I could complete my purple green wool wintercoat. It has an inner short jacket which zips into the main coat.

I have given it a kangaroo pouch in stead of 2 seperate pockets as theat makes keeping my hands warm much easier.

New jeans

I wear dresses and skirts mostly as they are more comfortable, and the jeans I can buy are never quite it or just too darned expensive. So I copied my very fave ones , now I have jeans that are comfy, look nice and did not cost me an arm and a leg..

Lucky me :)

I have admired a Lithuanian felter for a long time, she make the most incredible flower paintings of wool. I have wished to go study with her. And yesterday I saw she had published a tutorial, so right away I bought it of course :-)

I made a shawl using her flower painting tutorial, she usually makes her paintings on bags, wall hangings, pillows and eyeglasses. I thought it would look awesome on a scarf too. And this tutorial is just superb. I can not draw if my life depended on it but following her step by step pictures and description managed to make poppies that actually look like poppies. I need loads more practive of course but for a first try I am mightily pleased :-)

Has winter arrived?

The boys have their winter buscards now and it seems winter might have finally arrived. Their bikes collected some beautiful ice crystals, time to oil them and put them away in the barn :-)
